This study was a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled experiment, recruiting 53 ED patients. These participants were divided into two groups to evaluate the effects of Pycnogenol on patients with erectile dysfunction and patients with ED and type 2 diabetes. The researchers used the International Erectile Function Index (IIEF-5) questionnaire and blood samples to measure the biochemical indicators of diabetes, and analyzed the improvement of the participants after taking them. During the three-month study period, the results showed that supplementing Pycnogenol 120 mg daily can significantly improve the erectile function of the two test groups.

● 45% improvement in erectile function in diabetic patients (20% reduction in placebo group)

●The erectile dysfunction of the experimental group was improved by 22% (the placebo group was reduced by 16%)

●Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol in diabetics decreased by 20% (increased by more than 1% in the placebo group)

●In the experimental group, patients with erectile dysfunction improved LDL cholesterol by 14% (placebo increased by 4%)

●Blood sugar in the diabetic group improved by 22% (glucose in the placebo group improved by more than 1%)

According to data from the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), as many as 30 million men in the United States suffer from ED, about one-quarter of new cases occur in men under 40 years of age. Patients often seek non-pharmacological treatment to control these symptoms to reduce their dependence on prescription drugs. Erectile dysfunction is often associated with other health problems, including stress and lack of sleep, which is also a potential indicator of diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes. This study shows the benefits of Pycnogenol for erectile function, as well as the underlying conditions.
