Diosmin, also known as geraniol, is a flavonoid compound extracted and isolated from plants. Diosmin was first isolated from Scrophularia nodosa in 1925. As a vascular protection agent, it has the effects of enhancing venous tension, improving microcirculation, and promoting lymphatic reflux. It is mainly used to treat chronic venous insufficiency, hemorrhoids, lymphedema and varicose veins.
1. Treat chronic venous insufficiency
Diosmin, as an adjunct to traditional therapies for leg ulcers, can speed up the treatment process.
2. Treat hemorrhoids
Diosmin can control the symptoms of acute or chronic hemorrhoids.
3. Anti-inflammatory effect
Diosmin and hesperidin have inhibitory effects on colitis, and the mechanism may be related to their ability to prevent oxidative damage.
4. Antitumor activity
Diosmin has a certain effect in inhibiting tumor cell metastasis, proliferation and apoptosis.
5. Inhibition of drug efflux
Diosmin can effectively block P-glycoprotein-mediated drug efflux in Coco2 cells. Diosmin can promote the absorption of drugs that can be used as P-glycoprotein substrates.
6. Other functions
Diosmin has certain effects in the treatment of diabetes, stasis dermatitis, wound healing, and viral infections.
